Responsive emails / Limitations
General limitations of our service
We can't assure a perfect display on all email clients and devices.
__
There are custom fonts related limitations. We can import custom fonts to the HTML design, but the font has to be hosted by the client. Moreover, custom fonts aren't supported on every email client. For example, MS Outlook always will show the safe font, instead of the custom font (learn more about safe fonts on MDN).
__
There is an email length limit on some mobile devices/clients.
__
Images displayed on Outlook are blocked by default.
__
Script (JS, PHP) don't work inside most of the email clients.
__
Cutting-edge front-end techniques don't work in emails (e.g. flexbox, grid), the code must be based on tables.
__
UTMs don't work in links with redirections.
__
Dynamic URL won't work (Outlook, etc.).
__
Video feature doesn't work inside email clients (but video can be sometimes replaced by GIF).
__
The dark mode is a relatively new feature for emails and it's not fully supported yet. However, we can optimize custom HTML or template to dark mode, but as it's not standardized, we can't assure the perfect display on every device and email client.
Limitations only for a responsive email in Message Builder
There is no possibility to create a complex or pixel-perfect designs.
__
Font management is limited. Only predefined fonts are possible (no custom fonts). Mobile text alignment different from desktop devices is also impossible.
__
The code of the email could be so heavy which woll impact deliverability or visibility (clipping on Gmail).
__
No dark mode support.
Limitations only for a responsive email in HTML
Using live text with an image as a background is supported only in a few email clients, so sometimes image in the backgrounds could be invisible.
__
Live text inside frames in images is highly not recommended. Mobile devices render fonts differently so we can't assure that the display won't brak. Here's example of the broken design on mobile
